Dua of Adam (AS) — Repentance After Sin
Source: Quran 7:23
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Transliteration
Rabbana dhalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakoonanna minal-khasireen
English Translation
"Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."
When to Recite This Dua
This is the dua Allah Himself taught Adam and Hawa (Eve) after they ate from the forbidden tree. It is the original supplication of repentance in human history. When you feel like your sin is too great, remember that Allah taught this dua to our first parents precisely so they could return to Him. No sin is beyond His mercy.
