Dua for Strength Against Desires
Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6367
Transliteration
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali wal-jubni wal-bukhli wal-harami wa 'adhabil-qabr
English Translation
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the punishment of the grave."
When to Recite This Dua
Helplessness and laziness are two of the greatest obstacles in breaking harmful habits. When you feel too weak to resist temptation, this dua asks Allah to remove that sense of powerlessness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) frequently sought refuge from these states because they prevent a person from doing what is right.
