Dua for Guidance and Righteousness
Source: Sahih Muslim 2721
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
Transliteration
Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina
English Translation
"O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency."
When to Recite This Dua
This beautiful dua asks for the four things a Muslim needs most: guidance to know the right path, taqwa to follow it, chastity to protect oneself from haram, and self-sufficiency to not depend on anything other than Allah. The word 'afaf (chastity) is particularly relevant for those working to overcome sexual sins.
