Dua for Making Sin Hateful and Faith Beloved

Source: Musnad Ahmad 12286, referenced in Quran 49:7-8

Transliteration

Allahumma habbib ilayna al-imana wa zayyinhu fi qulubina, wa karrih ilayna al-kufra wal-fusuqa wal-'isyana, waj'alna minar-rashidin

English Translation

"O Allah, make faith beloved to us and beautify it in our hearts, and make hateful to us disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience, and make us among the rightly guided."

When to Recite This Dua

This dua asks Allah to transform your inner state so that faith becomes attractive and sin becomes repulsive. Rather than relying solely on willpower to resist temptation, this supplication targets the root — asking Allah to make haram naturally hateful to your heart. When lowering the gaze feels impossible, this dua asks for the deeper change: that your heart no longer desires what your eyes should avoid.
