Surah Al-Baqarah (2:222)

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

— Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 222

English Translation

"Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repenting and loves those who purify themselves."

Explanation & Connection to Overcoming Harmful Habits

Allah does not merely accept repentance — He loves those who repent. The word 'tawwabeen' is in the intensive form, meaning 'those who repent again and again.' This demolishes the lie Shaytan whispers: 'You have repented too many times, Allah will not accept it again.' On the contrary, the one who keeps coming back to Allah, who refuses to give up despite repeated falls, is beloved to Allah. The pairing with 'those who purify themselves' connects repentance to the active process of self-improvement. Every step you take to break your harmful habit — installing blockers, using Urge, building accountability — is an act of self-purification that Allah loves.
